Simon Ashley was born to draw. He has a natural eye for detail and impressive creative flair. He achieved a BA Hons degree in fine art before deciding to move into the hidden depths of body art. The world of tattooing doesn't always favour new recruits so Simon had to dedicate enormous time and effort to learning the trade and then decided to set up his own business in 2000 to deliver his creations to the good people of Cardiff. Simon now has over nine years of tattooing experience, gaining insight from some of the tattooists that have worked on him such as Dave Fleet and Sabine Gaffron. Simon specialises in Black and Grey realism, horror and japanese and has attended seminars by tattoo legends such as Paul Booth, Bob Tyrell, Darrin White and Joshua Carlton. A particular highlight for Simon was meeting Czech tattooist Milosch whose skill and expertise significantly helped to evolve his black and grey work. Safety always comes first for Simon. He is the first tattooist to endorse the Welsh Assembly Governments infection control training programme originally directed at the healthcare profession. Simon is piloting this course as a tattooist and assessing its relevance in the body art profession, because infection preventiona and awareness is of the upmost importance in this industry. Simon is currently enjoying global recognition and his work can regularly be seen in Skin Deep and Total Tattoo magazines.
